: Because I'm from Greece and I studied mythology,the
: Myrmidons was the army of the great hero Achilleas in
: the epic story:ILIAD.
: They were the elite force, against Troy but when Achilleas
: was killed they took his body and went back to their
: home palace.
More old news. But just to reiterate, the Myrmidons were an ancient Thessalian people who, according to legend sprung from ants. The king of Thessalian, after seeing his people dessimated by a plague (or some other disaster, versions vary) prayed to Zeus I believe to help repopulate his Island. Zeus thus turned the hard-working ants of the Island into his subjects.
They were later mentioned as Achilles' comrades in arms during the Trojan War. Interestingly enough, Achilles almost cost the Greeks the war because of his vanity (when Agamemnon took one of his captured women from him) which could be a link to the Myrmidon's vanity .:)
