: In light of recent discusions of Shiver and Myth 3, some
: might find this post to be... off topic, but bear with
: me: I've always liked to beleive that all Bungie games
: somehow connct to each other (excluding Gnop,
: Minotaur, and Operation Desert Storm!) its obvious to
: connect Pathways and Marathon, but the connection (if
: one exists) from Myth to Marathon is more challenging
: and is based completetly on speculations and open
: minds :) Consider this: The name I use (and openly
: ripped off) is from Marathon and to make a somewhat
: long story short Thoth was an Artificial Intelligence
: (AI) that was apparently oppsessed with balance. He
: always fights for the under dog and when the under dog
: is... well, no longer the underdog, he switches to the
: now stronger force's enemies. Thoth talked in a
: cryptic sort of way. After all he was an alien
: computer (S'pht or Jaro, forgot) I've posted this same
: theory before, but doesn't it kinda make sense that
: perhaps Thoth is telling the Player about his beleifs
: in balance through a way the player can understand.
: Consider this: Myth is essentially about a balance
: between good and evil and that at the end of every
: cycle one side, whether dark or light, gets too
: powerful and must be destroyed. The Leveler and the
: Great Hero are, essentially Thoth. He posseses each
: one to tip the balance. So he would be Tireces and
: kill whoever it was then return to end the too
: powerful light by becoming Moagim and so on.
Consider also that the Mythworld is the dream of a higher entity. We know about entities who can bring their dreams into reality, don't we?
You can find some interesting threads on this issue in the archives. I've been meaning to write a mini-essay on Myth/Marathon connections, and the ways in which an AI might be influenced by Marathon creatures to "dream" certain elements into a Mythworld simulation, but I have yet to get around to it.
: Also, Mahirs are really Shades from Pathways into
: Darkness!!! :) I'm tellin you, this is all true!
: *kicks and screams as he is dragged away to a padded
: room*
Phantasms, you mean...and sure they are, just like the invisible Compilers. They've just got a bit of Black Company Shadows thrown in (say people who've read the series).
