No, it was definitely Balmung that shattered - Alric has no sword as he chases SB into the cave and SB still has his weapon. Maybe SB is just plain scared shitless that Alric has enough strength to *break* Balmung and still has enough courage and confidence to chase him even without it. Yeah, I know it says he didnt flee because he fears us, but I mean, c'mon - this guy just took down like a thousand krids and he's pissed! SB doesn't know that he's at about a pixel of health, all he's thinking is "oh, damn! I'm not even scathing this dude!"
