: perhaps it's the body that retains the Dream powers,
: and not the soul, so dying made her loose all of her
: Dreams.
The personality differences could be explained by us seeing her true self, not her restrained human form. Perhaps some of her old spells were tied to her old body in some way, or to humanity in general, or she was simply less powerful because it takes time to build her power up and she didn't have long.
As for Forrest's idea, keep in mind that Myth's human's don't believe in reincarnation except for the great heroes. I doubt Shiver was reincarnated on her own.
My idea: Shiver and Ravanna are one and the same. Ravanna died way back and was brought back as Shiver by Balor. Perhaps due to the nature of some of her spells, she operated in secret as well as as a general.
Rabican killed her, Soulblighter brought her back via Tramist's mirror. Thanks to the methos of either her death or ressurection, she was much less powerful than before, not to mention uglier. This made her all pissy, which led her to be reckless and get killed.
Speaking of her old appearance, there is evidence that she had two forms back in TFL. GURPS descibes her appearance as gauzy, and at turns beautiful and bestial. When we see her in Tales and TFL, she's a shriveled-up hag. Perhaps this is her way of hiding her face as all the other sorcerors in Myth do.
