: Daughter of Unwed Dawn" could be taken to imply,
: then she might be able to hide herself well.
My solution for 1) is that he didn't actually summon either of them. He started trying to summon Shiver, and Ravanna appeared under her own power and said 'Hi, I'm Shiver. You called?' Naturally, Soulblighter just accepted it and figured the mirror worked.
And for 2), remember that Soulblighter himself managed to fall off the radar of humanity, including Alric, for 60 years, even while he gathered forces from within the province itself. Ravanna, adept at "slipping through the night on mysterious missions," would find it even easier to stay out of sight.
: B) Shiver is Ravanna Reborn, Ravanna is Ravanna Revived
: 1- How can someone be reincarnated without dying?
: 2- This would mean that Ravanna is still running amuck,
: how could this go unoticed?
: Solutions: 1- Perhaps "eternal sleep" means
: that one's body remains alive but one's spirit leaves
: it thus making it possible for one to be reborn.
: 2- Ravanna fell back into her eternal sleep after Balor
: died OR see A-S-2
1) I still don't see how the spirit would be in the two bodies *at the same time*. Do Shiver and Ravanna alternate waking and sleeping periods as the spirit moves between bodies?
2) It must have been the Shiver spirit which subsided, since the Myth2 Shiver is named Ravanna and lacks Shiver's powers. And of course it was the Shiver body which Rabican destroyed. But then the Shiver/Ravanna spirit would have Ravanna's body to inhabit. So why was it floating around bodiless until Soulblighter rescued it? And why was she worried about Myrdred's figuring out that Shiver and Ravanna were the same being?
: C) Ravanna and Shiver are two sides of the same person/
: two spirits in the same body
: Problems: 1- Who is in control of the body?
: 2- Why would Shiver take offense at being called Ravanna?
: Solutions: 1- Shiver (or perhaps Shiver during the day,
: Ravanna at night as her name implies?)
: 2- Perhaps Shiver and Ravanna have conflicting
: personalities and therefore dislike eachother's
: presence or perhaps knowing that they are one and the
: same makes Shiver vulnerable to some kind of magical
: attack.
Actually, my main problem with this theory is neither of these. I just don't see why anyone would have believed originally that Shiver and Ravanna were different Lords. Unless there's some kind of physical transformation, why wouldn't people just assume that they were the same being? And even if there *was* a physical transformation, wouldn't the Fallen Lords themselves (and certainly Balor) know about it?
