: I was speaking with a friend recently about Myth, and
: mentioned Nyx, and he asked what role exactly Nyx
: played in relation to Wyrd. Specifically, he said
: "Nyx = Wyrm?" I asked what he was talking
: about, and he elaborated...
: Apparently in whatever mythology the name
: "Wyrd" is taken from, there are three prime
: gods - Wyrd ("weird"), Wyld
: ("wild"), and Wyrm ("worm"). Wyrd
: is the Creator, as he in in Myth. Wyrm is the
: Destroyer - more closely related to the Leveller in
: Myth. Wyld, as her name suggests (and again, we have a
: female god here), is not the preserver like the
: Buddhist trinity, but is a random element, either
: progression or regression, marking only that time is
: passing on and things are continuing and stuff is
: happening (basically, she is the wild, just whatever
: happens in nature).
: Could this be our Nyx, about whom we know so little?
but if Nyx was the random element, wouldnt you expect her to play a more active role in the world? as far as i know, the only thing she ever did in mythworld was to create the trow. an important thing, but has she done anything to cause "progression or regression" since then?
unless she's responsible for the new races that seem to pop up every thousand years or so, then it would make sense.
