Maybe Im taking this theory too far, but if they have some sort of limited conscience then perhaps they'd WANT to live on to defend their former homes and families... sounds strange, but look at it as a last chance to fight for the land you love and adore (assuming this was the case) This could be why they hate fighting for the dark, because they know they're destroying the land they once loved (and explains the hostility towards that annoying ghol in that picture) After he defeates the myrks he returns them to their graves... and thanks them for their last, honorable deed. It... it brings tears to my eyes :)
