Nah, I just like saying "beautiful, peaceful, blissful EVIL."
That wasn't *quite* my geographical theory, so here it is again for the benefit of...um...someone.
*ahem*
To the north of the known world is a pole of Order; to the east is a pole of Chaos. The region equidistant between these poles--a strip running southwest to northeast--is balanced between the two; since Light is balance, this strip is inhabited by the core Light kingdoms: the Province, the Cath Bruig and Gower.
The Light strip is narrower to the northeast, because it's easier to step off it to either side and quickly get pulled to one pole or the other; on the other hand, the southwest region is far from both poles and so the strip of Light influence is wider and more settled. Accordingly the Province is much more prosperous and enjoys a calmer existence than Gower does; in general, the Light is more powerful to the southwest and the Dark is more powerful to the northeast.
On the northwest side of the strip, where Order reigns, naturally orderly races like Trow and Mauls have been pulled to extremes and are therefore Dark; but innately chaotic races such as Berserks find themselves pulled into balance by the Order influence, and fight for the Light.
On the southeast side, with its Chaos influence, naturally chaotic races like the Ghols are pushed to extremes and become Dark; naturally orderly races like Dwarves are brought into balance and become dedicated to the Light.
