: Another reason we don't see myrms in Myth II, some have
: theorized, is because when Balor died, his spell of
: immortality died with him, and the myrms all died as
: well. (That was prolific use of the word
: "died".) Personally, I don't subscribe to
: this theory, 'cause I like to think that cool units
: like myrms are still alive somewhere, but that doesn't
: mean it's not worth mentioning.
Hooray!
: And one of my own theories as to why they didn't appear
: in Myth II: if you look back at the maps for TFL,
: bungie used generous helpings of myrms in those
: maps...so it's possible they decided the audience had
: seen enough of myrms after TFL, and simply phased them
: out while replacing them with units like krids.
If anyone were to make a campaign to follow up the fate of the Myrmidons, it would be worth considering that as they were a whole nation/tribe, it's highly unlikely that they'd just weild gridaksma blades, sure that would be the predominant troop type, like Warriors are in the Province, but consider the possibilities of:
Myrmidons with really big warhammers: After all, where do the names "Battlehammer","Hearthammer",etc. come from?
Myrmidons with throwing daggers or shuriken: Suitably "spiky", and, with all that speed, deadly against anyone without missile support!
Myrmidons with some kind of spiky polearm: No reason, I just like the image!
A completely unrelated idea that could be adapted to just about anyone: Stygian Knights which have been modified, allowing a special attack that causes all the spikes in their armour to shoot out at high velocity, impaling anyone nearby!
