I've worked in the game industry and there's one thing I can tell you for sure about any company any where: Marketing departments don't have a clue about the games the developers are making. It's all "widgets" to them, they don't know or want to know what's in the box as long as the box catches your attention on the shelf. They probably thought they were fixing the spelling in the info the developers gave them. :)
Or, maybe spellings have changed over 1060 years. English definitely isn't the same in 2001 as it was in 941.
