: We've disscussed the End of all theory before but I was
: wondering if it was safe to assume that there was one
: continant per side of world? I.e. The Myth world we
: know and Faraway on the other? Any ideas? If so how is
: it that Faraway is a paradise? Did they break the
: cycle? Did they have a cycle?

Oh no, now you got me started again...

We went over this a LOT before, and between SiliconDream and I this general concept of the world was worked up (Sili has a slightly different version):

Lets look at the map of Myth. To the east is miltant Gower, the Untamed Lands, the Trow lands, etc. Beyond that to the east and northeast are said to lie dark lands where foul things stir - indeed a poison river runs in from the northeast. To the southeast are the Untamed Lands. All of this sounds rather Dark to me.

Go west a bit. You get into the Cath Bruig Empire, or what's left of it. During Light eras this is a capital of civilization, but during Dark ones it gets totally wasted and nuked down to bedrock. Further west of that still are the Light lands, who are Light throughout the Light eras and only get their major cities sacked in the Dark ones. Across the western ocean is rumored to be the Faraway, a land of eternal spring and all that good stuff.

So the schism seems pretty obvious; you go one way things get Darker, you go the other way things get Lighter. Assuming the Mythworld is a globe like any other planet, that means that aside from the normal north and south poles, you have Light and Dark meridians. Call the Dark meridian 0° latitude and the known lands are in the western hemisphere; there should be similarly balanced lands on the other side; the Far East of the continent on the Dark meridian; and the Faraway on the Light meridian.

(Sili postulates that you go far enough east or west and either way you'll hit the Faraway on the other side of the world, a land of beautiful, peacefull, blissfull EVIL. I'm not sure if he's serious or not).

There are also gradients of chaos and order. The orderly Trow are to the north; the chaotic Untamed Lands to the south. There are lots of other examples I don't recall on the second, and numerous exceptions, but more or less it seems north is orderly and south is chaotic. Since the known lands are in the northern hemisphere (as the northern known lands are colder), then it seems more likely that instead of an orderly north pole and a chaotic south pole, the poles are orderly and the equator chaotic.

(Sili believes, because of the exceptions like the Free Cities, the Berserks, and the Province, that the gradiant runs diagonally, northwest to southeast being a band of chaos, and order on either side of it, in the Trow lands and the Province.)

When you combine this with the Light/Dark schism (where Light is balance and Dark is extremes, as previously established), the southeast becomes dark, chaotic Untamed Lands, and the northeast becomes dark, totilitarian-orderly lands of dark undead things. The West is moderately balance. Tharsis, lying at the center of the known lands, most likely lies directly in between the Light and Dark meridians and and directly in the mediterrenian line between north pole and equator. It is a land of quasi-perfect balance between order , chaos, absolute extremes, and perfect balance.
