: The Asylum was around long before GURPS Myth, or Chimera,
: or even Myth II. I remember when Myth II was released
: and it ruined a lot of our theories here.
: As for Gene Seabolt, he doesn't have to be very
: "into" Myth to have written GURPS Myth. He
: saw a good story universe that Bungie had written and
: thought it would make a good place to role-play; hence
: GURPS. Then he got together with Bungie and stole all
: their secrets to flesh out the universe, pulled a few
: loose ends out of his ass and voila! GURPS Myth.
I see two sides to the "pulled a few loose ends out of his ass." The first is that he gave his best shot... he had to come up with something instead of saying "nobody knows" over and over again. In that sense he did a good job: he got an idea and added it in and it didn't change the story too much. Then the other side is that he should have left in all those "nobody knows" since GURPS is supposed to be a customizable system. That means he should have said "... As for the Deciever, nobody knows" if he truly didn't know what happens to him. Obcourse he may have honestly thought the Deceiver is alive since he apparently didn't play all of the Shiver level. Also Bungie might have told him that The Deciever lives. In the end I think GURPS is pretty good and I cringe at the thought of what GURPS would be like if I wrote it... I don't wanna think about it anymore :P
