Yeah, if you remember in my old pseudo-fan-fic about the First Era I suggested he just used normal Humans and a few stupid Dark races like Mauls and Ghols and probably Myrkridia.

Actually, it seems that the Leveller exists to UPSET this balance - he just doesn't care which way. During Light eras, things are balanced and good. Then the Leveller comes and pushes some poor, uber-powerfull schmuck's affiliation too far into a mania, driving him to raise an army and impose his twisted vision of perfections (absolute chaos or absolute order) on the world.
