What is GURPS?

sorry about my ignorance (as you can see, I'm a bit new to this place.. tho I find these discussions about the Myth Legends extremely interesting) but what is GURPS? I'd like to get my hands on whatever I can to know more about the Myth world.

btw.. thanx to all that replied to me. There were many questions that needed to be answered in my head and still are :)
