In Response To: Lots o' questions (redstar)

: 1) How did Shiver survive in Myth1 to do more damage on
: MythII? Didn't she die or become severely wounded
: after Rabican defeated her? Plus it said the remaining
: fallen lords were tracked down and killed. What made
: Shiver and Soulblighter so much harder to kill than
: the others?

Shiver didn't survive. Rabican blasted her to pieces with his lightning. But, before the beginning of Myth 2, Soulblighter found the artifact known as Tramist's Mirror, which has the power to ressurect the soul of a dead creature, though it may need time to "charge up", and this was why Soulblighter only resurrected Shiver in this way. Also, unlike her physical body, which we see in the loss screen of "A Traitor's Grave", Shiver's soul, which we see in Myth 2, was hideous, with horrible long raking claws...
I personally doubt that the Fallen were really killed. Shiver and the Watcher were dead, sure. Soulblighter fled to the untamed lands. The Deciever was frozen inside a glacier. I'm sure Bonesplitter and the Faceless man also survived somehow. In previous posts, it has been speculated that the Faceless Man has shapechanging abilities, or is a master spy, so actually knowing who he is to kill him would be a major problem. As for Bonesplitter, we know very little about her, but the histories don't mention her attacking anywhere, so it is probably fair to say that all of her campaigns ttok place off the known map. Perhaps a fairer statement would be "All the Fallen Lords were either driven off or defeated and thought to have been killed." We are seeing all of this from the perspective of the West, remember. People are happier if they don't think that there's a Fallen Lord just over the horizon, just waiting to sweep down with his army and kill everyone. And mega-baddies like the Fallen don't RIP that easily- look at the Watcher, thay shot him full of arrows, the mere toutch of one of which would have probably killed any normal man, and he was merely turned to stone.

: 2) who are these Forest Giants? They were probably a
: younger race than the trow... but they were never
: mentioned in Myth II or the comic. It seems like they
: are a match for the trow too, and since they hate the
: trow so much, there must have been an age-old conflict
: a long time ago when the trow and the forest giants
: fought. However, since the trow are much stronger..
: and exterminated 2 of the most powerful races before
: (the oghres and the cal-something I forgot) the forest
: giants would have been in huge trouble and wouldnt
: have survived unto this day.

The Forest Giants hate the Trow because they "poisoned the soul of iron". This could be a reference to the desecration of the Giant's metal idol which we see in Forest Heart, which could have happened early in the war, or, more likely, it could be a reference to the Trow using iron for genocide and kinslaying during the destruction of the Oghres. Or it could be something completely different. I guess that the Giant's forest home would have been a useful survival asset, as it would have been difficult for any Trow kill teams to find the Forest Giants, and such teams could easily be led into traps and ambushes.

: 3) It said that Mazzarin was one of the most powerful
: Avatara before he died (his death caused by the
: Watcher I presume). When did he become a shade (or did
: he ever) in the game? It says he is in the
: encyclopedia.. but I do not remember seeing that shade
: in MythTFL.

I think Mazzarin became a Shade very early in the war, before the events chronicled in Myth, or he could even have been shadified in the previous age (the Watcher was very anchient). GURPS probably says something on this. Mazzarin is the second shade you meet in the level "The Watcher". Incidentally, a mage can only be shadified by his own free will. Was Mazzarin not as nice as we have been led to believe? Or is torture simply a very effective way to change someone's opinions on certain topics?

: 4) Lastly, why do the trow befriend or have befriended
: the deceiver? What does "furor poeticus"
: mean?

The Trow did not befriend the Deciever, they simply respect him more than any of the other Fallen Lords. "Furor poeticus" means "poetic fury".
