Soulblighter was a hero previously; Damas. He wasn't a Great Hero, but he was a hero.
Also, only the post-Light-age Levellers are heroes earlier, as far as we know. The Levellers at the ends of Dark Ages, who are doomed to fail, may just be villains raised to new heights. And the current age was supposed to be a Dark Age.
