A traitor's grave is an imporant scene; he was gonna rat out the Legion and ruin the surprise attack on Madrigal. Comfort was an imporant scene; that distraction, and the sneak attack from the north, was their entire plan of battle. Leave them out and you've just got "Legion attacks Shiver; Legion wins" and then a bunch of people wondering what's so scary about these Fallen Lords if a bunch of ragtag soldiers can beat them head on.
