But that wouldn't explain how he could teleport the troops at the end of Last Battle halfway across the continent to the Great Devoid, presumably using the Knot (as I said before, if he can do that without Knots, why use Knots?), if it was broken.

Unless, perhaps, he can SEND people placed without Knots, but needs a Knot to pull people in. He could visualize the place to send them, but cannot visualize the people in a place he can't see to bring them through, instead needing to focus on the image of a target Knot and bring through whatever's in it.

I mean, we've seen Alric twice teleport people (once including himself) away without the use of a Knot, but have we ever seen him wave his arms and call in reinforcements except with the use of a Knot? But then, if he can sent people away without a Knot, why does he send people to the Great Library through a knot? I could understand bringing them back, but sending them there? Of course, we never actually see the Great Library team arrive through that Knot...
