: So you're willing to accept a theory that the Dark have
: invisible Wights that can walk up to a target and
: destroy it.
: I don't but this. I do buy the fact that Bungie scripted
: an event the only way the could to make it look like
: the Wights were teleported in to destroy the Knot.
: They couldn't achieve the effect we see in "Force
: Ten..." since they wanted the reverse to happen.
: That is we walk away from the Knot, Wights appear and
: detonate themselves in the absence of any Light
: troops.
Who says they're invisible? They only appear when you're far away, so you wouldn't know whether they're invisible or not. All that's happening is that they're supposed to be elsewhere: buried underground, standing offmap, concealed under a pile of leaves, who knows? And once you're far enough away that you can't see them--and couldn't get back to them in time even if you did see them--they come out, approach the Knot and blow up. They're not supposed to be "teleporting in" any more than any other units which suddenly appear on maps, like the big platoons chasing you on Gonen's Bridge; they're just coming into "game space" from some outside region.
The main reason why they're not scripted to physically walk in from a cave or off the map is probably that they're Wights--they're so slow and fragile that your units could race back and pop 'em before they got there. Only way to ensure successful destruction of the Knot is to cheat a bit--make them visible right there and just act like they snuck in.
Scripting could certainly produce the necessary effect. Test for the absence of nearby Light units, cue Wights to teleport in via the Knot and immediately detonate. Precisely analogous to what happens now, except with an extra World Knot glowing action. It'd be easy for Bungie to do; the reason they didn't, I think, is because they didn't want it to happen.
: Ahhhh... it's good to be back. But where is Lord Chromag,
: Tribunal, Weevil, B|ak, and evil one himself poens
: dare? Folks have been slackin' here... the cycle is
: nearly complete and the Fallen will rise once more!
: ;-)
No, they're dead. All dead. The Dark has fled the land and the cycle's broken for good.
