: I don't know what GURPs says about Gods in Myth, but I
: can really only think of a couple: Wyrd and Styx.
: apparantly the Berserks worship Wyrd and the Bre' Unor
: worship Styx (right?) The ghols obcourse have their
: god, but I don't understand a few things: one was the
: Cathedral in Homecoming in Myth 1. What was that
: cathedral devoted to? Does the fact that a cathedral
: refers to a monotheism say something about the Bruig?
: Perhaps they were devoted to one god and that was
: their religion where everyone else had their own form
: of religion. Or was it a temple? Perhaps devoted to a
: god of wisdom or knowledge considering the city of
: Covenent was suppose to be rich with both those
: things. Did it ever say what the dwarves worship?
Here's what we know of the gods in Myth, according the the legends of most races in the Mythworld, including the Trow who witnessed some of it firsthand.
It seems that there were once a bunch of old, "Dark" gods. Somehow Wyrd came to be, awakening from the One Dream, and had a big fight with Nyx, who is never defined as being an Old God or a new god like Wyrd or something else entirely. In that battle, Wyrd won and made in doing so made the world. Nyx scarred it with Tharsis, and created the Trow on it. The Trow worship Nyx as their creator, but they still acknowledge that Wyrd and the Dark Gods all exist - they just don't much like them. Like how Christians recognize that Jesus and Satan are both REAL, they just choose to worship one and hate the other.
Then there's the Leveller, who is a transient divinity (he only exists in posession of another being) that created himself. Nothing more about him is specified.
There are other gods, as well. The Spider-gods, which the Spider-cults worship; the otherworldly Fetch gods, which I believe to be the same as the Spider-gods (and the Dark Gods, for that matter) - and they're certainly real, see the Fetch's magic. There's b'Y'laggo, the elemental spirit worshipped by the bre'Unor, who is also evidently real. Cartucke, a demon from Chimera, is very real indeed.
So it seems there are lots of very real gods in Myth, and pretty much everyone accepts that. On Earth, none of the gods people believe in manifest themselves in demonstratable ways. Wyrd created the world, and the Trow were there to attest to it. Same thing with Nyx. The Leveller comes around every thousand years to destroy it. All these other gods show themselves in one undeniable way or another, so nobody has any choice but to accept that they exist. They just choose to follow one or the other, all for their own various reasons.
