: It probably says something about this somewhere, but just
: how old are the ghols AND the trow. I ask because it
: says that the ghols, alone, know the names of the dark
: gods. This would suggest that the dark gods are really
: old, but if they alone know them then why are the trow
: refered to as being so ancient (perhaps the oldest
: race I think) and not know the names. Did they choose
: to forget them since these gods were dark and
: presumably evil? We can assume that the trow are more
: neutral then anything, but then how could the ghols
: have survived the trows apparant genocide against all
: other races and it couldn't be because they stopped
: using iron and all that after the Oghre rebelion
: because these gods are suppose to be ancient, unless
: ancient means right when the ghols were created the
: dark gods died or whatever happend to them happend.
: Could it just be that the ghols are the only ones who
: WISH to remember them and that all others abandoned a
: presumably "primitive" religion. The ghols
: never appeared to me as being that intelligent.
The last theory seems to me to be the correct one. The Ghols aren't particularly ancient; they're just so primitive and ethically backwards that they prefer to worship a group of gods that everyone else will have nothing to do with.
The Trow, if their account of their own creation is to be believed, are the oldest creatures in Myth. When they were created, there were no other beings on the planet. All known elder beings like the Callieach came later. (Of course, they may have existed earlier somewhere else.)
