In Response To: Myth's Gods (Lucan)

: The Bre'unor worship B'y'laggo, an ethereal god who
: resides in the air and demands sacrifice in return for
: giving the Bre'unor vigor in battle, control of
: animals (wolves) and the like.
: I believe some people on the board have made mention that
: the fir'bolg worship Nyx. For what reason, I can't
: imagine. The fir'bolg obviously have little or nothing
: to do with the Trow.

Ummm... I was the one who said that fir'Bolg could worship somethng else, but I never said anything about Nyx.

: You mean the stone godhead from Long Awaited Party?
: Because I also remember the flavor text from TFL
: saying that only the ghols remembered the names of the
: "dark gods". I wonder who these guys are, if
: the ghols worshipped them, and what they have to do
: with the godhead.

This is from GURPS Myth (and yes, it's frikkin' kosher. Bungie sanctioned means Bungie sanctioned. There are discrepancies in other sources as well):

"…before the world there existed the Dark Gods (note: not the spider gods, I disagree with that theory). Today only the Ghols remember their names and still offer them bloody sacrifices (note: This is what the god head was an idol to)."

"The world begins with an epic battle between two gods, Wyrd and Nyx. Wyrd created the world..."

"To this day the Trow worship the "loser" in this conflict"

"... the dark gods beheaded Wyrd's son, Segoth. His head was preserved so that it will never die, nor lose the power of speech... (note: recognize anything? Perhaps Segoth shares his father's obsession with order?)"

"... [The Dark Gods] shattered the one dream"

So there ya have it.

: I don't recall if they referred to it as a
: "cathedral" but for all intents and
: purposes, I suppose it is. If it's not devoted to
: Wyrd, I'd say you're right, it fits to have a
: cathedral/temple to a god of knowledge right next door
: to the Great Library.

The cathedral would have been to Wyrd. There's nothing wrong with having a temple devoted to one god in a religion with many gods, just look at the greeks.

: For the Bruig, I'm betting that since the Province, and
: Covenant, were part of the Empire, they let the
: residents worship whatever they wanted. The Bruig
: probably established Imperial standards for
: government, language, commerce, etc. but left the rest
: up to the local governments, thus the strong cultural,
: architectural social and (probably) religious
: differences.

The Cathedral's in Covenant... not in the Cath Bruig Empire. The province was not part of the empire unitl Alric united them.

: As for the dwarves, I have no idea. Maybe they're
: atheists, hehe.

Wyrd seems to be the god of preference in civilised society, but the dwarves, being technologically and rationally driven, could easily be atheists.
