Berserks live in the hills just east of the northern Cloudspine, and reach over until they hit Trow lands in the 12 Duns. Their lands also stretch upward into the ocean, encompassing all the little islands out there. They worship Wyrd. As for how the Berserk villages held out so well, remember that we don't see everything in the game. Zerks would be able to climb up hills and trees and chase the Soulless down, or at least throw rocks at them. Besides, they could just go into their huts and wait the Soulless out. Any Thrall that came by to chase them out would be fodder.
