: This is more a Bungie topic then anything, but has anyone
: ever noticed that all the games that have been
: released by Bungie have only men and I mean ONLY men.
: In Marathon the closest we come to a woman is Leela and I
: have to wonder, has the player even seen a woman
: before?
: In Myth 1 and 2 we see towns filled with... men, but no
: woman folk around. Again the closest thing we come to
: a woman is Shiver. Is Alric married? Surely a King
: would want a wife and why is it that the narrator, who
: seems to be of a very mature and almost middle age,
: wouldn't marry. Sure he refers to his sister in the
: Myth 1 manual and sure we see a woman patching up a
: warrior's wounds at the win screen for the first level
: and yes we see some woman at the win screen on crow's
: bridge, but where are they in game? We could easily
: say that even Bungie would find blowing up innocent
: women with dwarves to be tasteless, but they could at
: least say they locked themselves in the houses. What
: is Bungie trying to say if anything?
In Marathon, there is also the "Great mother crouched behind the throne" to whom Tfear prays in one dead-end timeline. In Myth, there are also Fetch, and lots of women in pre/postgame screens. The Warriors of the Legion are said to be equally male and female, and it's not like you can tell through that armor (though the voices give it away). For some reason I've often thought of bowmen and archers as feminine, and they could be if it weren't for the beards. They actually made female zerks, but didn't use them for obvious reasons. ("Shirtless success stories" has a different meaning when you're talking women). As for the other units, modelling separate women for the same unit type is kind of pointless as it takes up lots of RAM and provides little gameplay value. I'm doing it in Dynasty though. :-)
