: From what I figure, the Cath Bruig are human, or at least
: derived from human stock, much like the fir'bolg and,
: to a much lesser extent, the Baer Serce (as I prefer
: to call them). It seems that the Heron Guard are Cath
: Bruig, but this brings up a problem with the
: septannual tournament; if anyone can compete, then
: some of the inaugurated Herons are CBs and some are
: not. Then we have many indications from non-CBs that
: indicate they are extinct, a la the quote from Ibis
: Crown, "The Bruig were a proud race".
I think that during the time of the Cath Bruig it might have been much like our medieval age. Sure there were the ghols, fir'bolg, dwarves, etc. but it was mostly a human world (which is much like how it is in the present game) and that the Cath Bruig was only one empire. Perhaps the Free Cities of the North was another (with a different name) and The Province was another (again with another name) Im sure these empires had their conflicts and all, but when the Dark came everyone suspected that the Cath Bruig would deal with them. They fell and so the other two empires quickly allied themselves and the survivors of the Cath Bruig joined and they became one empire. This is somewhat supported by what the journey men and later the Heron Guard look like. To me they always appeared to be either Oriental or Native American. (thats probably just me) and the warriors look more european (perhaps they are from the other nameless empires I mentioned)
