: Bruig is the first language of the Province. We don't
: know why, but I'd guess that most of the Province's
: people are descended from Bruig colonists who
: repopulated the land after one Dark Age or another.
: Alternatively, the Province may have formed from
: several different cultures who decided to adopt Bruig
: as an official language because of its political
: impartiality, just like African nations often prefer
: to use the language of their former European rulers,
: rather than that of one of their component tribes
: (which would piss everyone else off).

It could also be that the Province was once part of the Cath'bruig empire, but broke off at some time or another. It could be that the civil war that is mentioned in the TFL manual is refering to a break between the eastern empire and its western provence.
