maybe Im pushing a crazy theory too far, but maybe he read the Total Codex by stealing it for awhile. Consider this: the troops are all resting and camped and this charlatan bard sneaks into some high up's tent and reads through it real quick before returning. No one even knows it. And perhaps the voice we hear is just someone reading this journal and not the actual person going through it all. I just think it's strange how it seems impossible to know who the narrator is.
