In Response To: Connacht vs Balor (Martel)

: Was Balor more powerful in combat terms than Connacht?
: Connacht was undoubtedly a legend among the flock of
: humanity (you'd need to be to take on the Myrkridia
: with the scattered remnants of humanity then), but
: Balor's powers seem more than human. Does the Leveller
: empower him as well as influence his mind? Is it the
: suit of armour he wears, possibly the one Alric spoke
: of in the desert? Or was Connacht simply much more
: powerful than I'm giving him credit for?

I believe, though I'm not sure, that Balor's power suppose to be from artifacts. I think the Leveler corrupts the artifacts used by the Light to defeat the Dark and makes them turn from the Light. This is why Connacht was going around destroying and hiding artifacts. Perhaps that armor he wears is what caused him to turn. Maybe he just couldn't bring himself to destroy the armor. Whether he has superhuman powers is up to question. I suppose since he survived so long we can assume he was at least appove average human, but that may have been with the help of artifacts.
