: A significant event like the breaking of a cycle would
: most certainly be mentioned, in Myth II at least. Yet
: notice how the intro mentions only Madrigal is left
: unconquered from the Fallen. In "The Last
: Battle" narration, Alric says that Madrigal has
: fallen. A few days later, Balor is defeated and the
: cycle seems to have turned. Also, the comet is
: mentioned to be in the sky foretelling the end of an
: age. In this case, it should be the end of a dark age.
: This leads me to believe that a dark age consists of
: beasts or the undead trying to destroy (as opposed to
: conquer) the land. When they have succeeded, the dark
: age ends and gives way to one the age of light.
Each Age of Light is meant to be a thousand years. Each Age of Dark is meant to be a thousand years. The Wolf Age, the Age of Light in which Connacht ruled, ended only 50 years before TFL, when Balor came and sacked Muirthemne. Thus, it should still be a Dark age. But after only 50 years of Dark, it turned to Light and stayed that way for 60 years, then briefly turned Dark again when Soulblighter returned, and is now Light again. So the cycle is fux0red, unless you consider that the secret of unlife is out now and there is a lot of Dark potential, even though Alric seems to be keeping the Dark at bay for now.
Also, according to cycle, both Alric and Balor should have died fifty years before TFL. So, further fux0ring there.
