I don't know about the "fresh body thing"...
IMO he's only got one body and one heart. His body got wasted in Tharsis. His heart may still be around but it can't probably do anything physical. Sorta like the Head or that GiantMyrk eye they mention in GURPS.
If he could just have a lackey grab his heart and stick it in a fresh body, why was he so scared of losing his original body. He never fights to the death, preffering to flee in crow form to save his skin, and only is finally killed when he gets his ass kicked and cornered in Tharsis.
If he could survive anything, why didn't he just shatter the cloudspine first. The whole reason he didn't do it immediatly is because that would entail his body's death... something he obviously didn't want.
