ok, why dont we make this good here? l think the idea of an irate nobleman who is upset with alrics "arrogent" as the noble would probably say, proposal of just assuming he is emperor, and that they are in an empire. I think it would be a wonderful idea to start up another CIVIL war between the noble, his allies, and the rest of the empire. and lets not make this noble just any old noble either, lets make him a very powerful one, with his own private army, personal guard, mages, etc..and his allies with the same thing. and lets make this noble a millitary genious - someone who would really give alric trouble. lets forget the trow vs berserks, susan vs. kelly, etc..and focus on a civil war...l dunno, l may be strange, but l think that a civil war would be far more fascinating.
