Flying machine etc? This is kinda high tech for only 1000 years of relative peace in the providence. I think a more plausable scenario would be for the new leveler to bring beasts from far to the west, maybe dragons terrorize the empire until the archers come out and start impaling the damned beasts.
Also, since balor's head was thrown into the devoid (which is a gateway to the undead side), why not bring back a few of the nine with the head, but now evil. Balor's head could be the new head, but this time eventually misleading the dark (Alric and company) because of balor's intense hatred for Alric.
I think the deceiver should once again make an appearance, but maybe switching from one side to the other, living on the cloudspine, with an army of Mauls and Warlocks to protect him. The deceiver could be an immortal, maybe explain in an early entry how he achieved this, perhaps the warlocks have developed a secret.
The undead being on the side of the light doesn't make sense...even though Alric hated the undead, the undead would eventually start to hate the living, as they would have to work to support them.
