: Now, the narrator has been told by Nine Skull Crocodile
: about how the various bodies that the Leveler used
: were destroyed, so he knows this. Therefore when he
: says that "every dark age is ushered in by the
: same beast", he is refering to the Leveler spirit
: (and yes I know you know this). Yet he also says that
: "the hero of every age of light is
: different". Now it seems unlikely that here he is
: refering to the Great Hero's body, because he then
: says that thing about the Leveler, and in that context
: it would look like he was saying the Leveler's body is
: the same (follow?). So therefore it looks like he is
: refering to the Great Hero's spirit being different
: each time.
However, I say that not only is the body of each leveller/hero different each time, but so is the mind. They don't know they're reincarnations, they just inherit certain traits. Most religions that believe in reincarnation differentiate between "person" and "spirit". Your past life is not you, and you are not your past life - you simply share a spirit
Therefore, each Hero and pre-posession Leveller is a different person, but the Leveller is an undying god who controls these people. That the people share spirits does not make them any less people. And Nine Skull may not even know about the eternal champions, or may not have felt the need to mention it to the narrator.
