: I just wanted to agree that what makes Myth cool is the
: desperation in the war, as the light desperately tries
: to bring something against the dark to tip the
: balance. I think this was inspired by The Lord of the
: Rings where everything is riding on Frodo and Sam
: getting the One ring to Mount Doom and destroying it.
: Good luck!
Actually, I've heard (and mostly believe) that most modern fantasy, whether it's stories, RPG's, games, or whatever, was influenced greatly by the Lord of the Rings. D&D, the most commonly known RPG used tons of stuff from tolkien like monsters and magic (the main things that make up fantasy). Anyway, you're right. Myth does have that in common with LotR. There are other things, too. The Dark is led by a very powerful sorcerer (balor/Sauron) and converts many good people to evil (I'm not completely sure on this one, I haven't read LotR in a while, but saruman/myrdred), and there are lots of interesting artifacts with vague backgrounds that we want to know more about (there are lots of these in both. We get little bits of info on their history, but never anything that really tells us what we REALLY want to know).
Um, I think that's about all I had to say there.
