: Hey, I'd never realised how much fun this discussing
: history could be :)
: Just a thought though, could it be that the story of the
: pirates is merely 'revisionist history' on the part of
: the Province's historians. Maybe they weren't pirates
: in the true, swashbuckling sense of the word but
: merely a race with different, and therefore alien, set
: of ideas to the legion. The only reason I say this is
: that what Maeldun did to the citizens of Leix amounts
: to wholesale genocide - a whole society wiped out as
: retribution for the sacking of a city. Maybe history
: was rewritten to cover up Maeldun's crimes - make them
: out to be pirates and everyone will forgive us.
: Actually having said all that, maybe I'm trying too hard
: to introduce a 'conspiracy theory' :) Must be the
: cynic in me.
I love cynicism, and it would make the story for your
map much more interesting than just having good vs bad.
I can see it now ... a harmless Leixian peasant yelling
"I've got a wife & children etc", and Maeldun replying,
"No, you must ALL die! Muwahahahahaaa". Maybe that's
a bit extreme. But conspiracy theories, treachery & the
like are good - the Myth game didn't have enough of them
I reckon.
And I still think the Ibis Crown was a fraud :P
