Do we actually know that Maeldun found and attacked Leix? The flavour text merely mentions his anger at seeing Tyr destroyed and his desire to find Leix, but where is it recorded that he did so?
Also, if, as you say, the island is the location of Leix, why then would the pirates attack Tyr? Surely it would have made more sense for them to attack the potentially more lucrative in terms of plunder and closer Covenent. Still, if common consent is for the island to be Leix then I see no reason to disagree and am happy to go along with it.
