This addresses mostly the questions and theories put forth by the second post in this thread.
First off, I would agree that the myth world is much larger than what we see in the maps provided for us. I think the main reason that none of the races have explored much of the world is because A) they are in continuous conflict, ether with each other or with a great destroyer and B) The great destruction of knowledge every 1000 years would make the development of technology (i.e., really good ships) impossible.
I don't think its out of the question that there are many other hidden races and cultures we have no idea about. Does anyone know how far the untamed lands stretch? Or the eastern steps for that matter? I don't buy that theory of the edge of all, just the rambling of a mad J-man who had seen his home destroyed and his people all but wiped out.
Secondly I tend to agree that the forest giants were/are a younger race, but "younger" is a very loose term. It seems to embrace everything created after the Trow wiped out their first competition in the beginning of time. So the FGs could have been around longer than any of the other young races.
As to were the Giants were in Soulblighter? Well I guess its possible that they were destroyed when soulblighter began pulling resurrected mykrida out of the tain shard. He would have to had created a secure base aria to work out of right?. Its far more likely I think, that after the losses they received just 60 years ago, they wanted to sit this war out. Or perhaps they had given that aria to the humans, remember the razed village?
Anyway there are my thoughts on the matter, pick them apart as you will.
