: but all of the elder races were created by wyrd. if the
: ghols were created by the dark/spider gods, they
: wouldnt look much like the races created by wyrd.
The only elder races we know anything about are the Trow, who were created by Nyx, and the Callieach, who are considered "fearsome" by modern Wyrd-worshipping cultures and so probably weren't Wyrd's creations either. And as Discordia says, the known Wyrd-created races are the younger ones, almost all of whom look fairly humanoid, like the Ghols.
Personally, I don't think any of the elder races were created by Wyrd; I think they were all created by Nyx and other gods. That's why most of them seem to come from elsewhere, rather than simply arise on the spot; they're being inserted into the world.
: also, perhaps the trow recognised that the ghols were
: different from the other races, which is why they
: mearly sugjagated them instead of destroying them
: entirely.
It looks like the Trow simply destroy the races too powerful/uppity to be enslaved, elder or younger. The Ghols were spared because they were too pathetic to need extermination. :-)
: i just thought of something else, which sort of goes
: along with forrests comments about the images on the
: tain artifacts. he was saying how they looked very
: lovecraftian, and that remided me of the ghol idol on
: the world knot level, which had a face on it that bore
: a strong resemblance to ch'thulu, another lovecraft
: monster.
As other folks have said, that's actually an abandoned human idol. Probably not Wyrd himself, since from a Zerk's comment in TFL it appears that the people who used that idol worship several gods.
I still think it looks more like a Pfhor than Cthulhu. And don't misspell Cthulhu unless you want big heaping spoonfuls of my wrath. ;-)
