: My point was not that they came from the Devoid, but
: instead that you cannot prove something came from it
: simply by its proximity.
: Huge, lanky, horned creatures are by nature female? That
: might explain some things.... ;)
Just to step in for a sec, my personal theory (which I've posted before) is that the lanky horned (well, I interpreted them as antennas) things are the Spider-goddesses (yeah, it's pretty clear they're female; they've got boobs and swollen bellies), and that the skeletal horned things they're giving birth to are the Fetch. These look a lot like Fetch would minus their skins, and are associated with the lightning towers.
: You speak truthfully in both your two first points, yet
: he never was involved with the Smiths except for
: ignoring or hunting them. I'm sure that they wouldn't
: divulge thier greatest secret (that they had access to
: a whole other world) to just anyone, especially not
: thier king.
But Balor/Connacht, being the world's greatest sorcerer, could probably figure a lot of this out without them telling him. I mean, they give him an artifact which produces a gate between this world and the Tain-world; it's only natural that he'd wonder whether the Tain-world had gates to any other planes. And I'm sure he had the magical power and wisdom to find out.
And by the way, who says the Smiths didn't have something to do with Balmung? It was found stored in the catacombs where they used to hang out, remember? And it wasn't intended to be used entirely for good; apparently it tries to take over the mind of its user. Perhaps the Smiths created it for a past ruler in the hope that they'd gain control over him?
