: Sure, Spiders exist outside the Tain, but that doesn't
: mean they didn't come from (or through) it. Fetch
: exist outside their dimension, too.
Sure, but that makes it a pretty weak point. Theres no concrete evidence about it. You could say that the Dwarves came from the Great Devoid and has exactley the same argument.
: But that doesn't mean it can't lead to another dimension,
: being a sort of in-between world.
Yeah, but it doesn't mean it _does_...

: part, or some such.

I never understood that spider story anyway. I always assumed that the poor soldier got ported to a different part of the tain (remember that it doesn't all look alike), not a whole other dimension/world. However, what if that place (with so much spider stuff carved on the walls) was the place to which the Smiths went, mind you that I don't think it's another world, but maybe a temple deep in the catacombs of Muirthenme... or not.
: Remember that I run this site, so you're just agreeing
: with me. :-)
True (and an excellent site it is), but somehow I don't see how you can say they look both like Cthulu and the fetch at the same time. As far as I recall the old ones don't look very much like lighting shootin' humanoids....
: And just because something looks Lovecraftian doesn't
: mean it's not something else in the Myth world. The
: whole Tain and all of the Smiths' creations look
: Lovecraftian.
Depends on which book ;)
: But if the Dwarven Smiths worshipped the Spider-gods, and
: the Fetch were from their world, don't you think they
: would know some thing about creatures from that realm?
: Maybe that's how Balor found out about the Fetch in
: the first place, with the Tain.
_If_ the fetch and spiders were from the same world this would be true, but your building on an unstable foundation.... Remember, Balor wasn't allied with the Smiths anyway, he tried to kill them (and we know that he remember's his past life's grudges, just look at the Myrkidia battle standard).
: The Ghols live around the Great Devoid. That doesn't
: prohibit them from living elsewhere too.
True, in fact judging from the fact that they are as far north as the Trow (in "With Friends Like These"), they're one of the most far-spread races there is. However, I still don't agree with you that they weren't of "Wyrd's Vision," reme, ber that Wyrd smites alien things. Also see Demosthenese's post on the subject.
