Actually, the Oghres were one of the older Younger Races. The Callieach were the last Old Race to show up, right before the Trow's "Golden Age" aeon of peace began.
Anyway, my phone line died at home, so I'll continue my train of thought here. What I was thinking sprung from my theory about the Great Devoid, Callieach, the Spider-world, the Fetch, and all that. I wrote a story for a level (which never got made) about that theory, and in it the Ghols were tricked into helping the Fetch because the Fetch told them their Spider Gods were the same as the Ghols' Dark Gods - and the idiot Ghols fell for it.
But when I read "Sovereigns of the Time Before", something dawned on me. We don't know WHERE all these old races came from. What if some of them were around before Wyrd made the world as we know it, back in the old world ruled by the Dark Gods? They just disappeared for a while after the new world was created - perhaps into another dimension. What if the Callieach were one of these races, and they were like avatara of the Dark Gods? And if so, what if the Dark Gods and Spider Gods really ARE one and the same?
Later on, I thought of something else. GURPS mentions that Balor's motives for bringing the Fetch to our world are unknown. I was thinking about that as I kept reading, and when I came across the part about the odd timing of the comet during this cycle, I remembered my old theory about Balor still having Connacht's inclinations to break the cycle, and thus intentionally fux0ring the timing. So it occurred to me, what if he brought the Fetch, priestesses of the Spider-gods (aka Dark Gods), to our world in a further attempt to screw up the cycle, by bringing part of the Old World back into the New World?
And on that note, what if the Callieach's presence aeons ago was what screwed up the Trow's cycle of KIKing a new race every thousand years?
