Even after Kyrilla broke off relations with Cartucke she was still able to teleport and throw magic bolts, which is pretty impressive. Cartucke just amped her necromantic abilities and (maybe) gave her her illusion powers.
Yeah, it's really too bad they scaled back Chimera's story so much; I understand the original was a lot deeper and more involving.
