In Response To: Re: UMS, and necromancy (IronDuke)

: I agree as well. At no stage while playing LoGA did I not
: enjoy it, but I can't say the same for UMS. However the
: improvements Forest mentioned would help greatly, and
: there
: is real potential in the story.

: This resulted from only having 3 months to complete it. I
: believe Datax only added the stygs a week or so before
: the
: deadline. Knowing this makes the flaws in the level
: understandable, and you really have to admire the
: original
: ideas he implemented, especially the reincarnation
: concept.

: Which brings me to a question - how long would it take to
: turn a corpse into a thrall?

: In TFL text somewhere it mentions how the thrall legions
: that attacked Covenant were reinforced with townsfolk,
: farmers and bodies from tombs. The inhabitants of Avons
: Grove were thrallised or gnawed by ghols.

: If the fallen lords (the Watcher in particular) commonly
: pursued this tactic as a standard means of getting
: reinforcements on the march, then I don't think the
: process
: could have been too lengthy.

: In fact, assuming magic was employed, couldn't the
: watcher
: have instantaneously resurrected thrall from corpses and
: even used it as a battlefield tactic?

According to GURPS, thrall can't be made from fresh corpses. Ghasts can, but it takes more energy to raise them.
