: Ugh... if you _do_ make a UMS deluxe, please use
: different collections for Connaught and Damas. We
: already do know what Connaught looked like back then
: (there's a statue of him in TFL) and he wasn't wearing
: Balor armor. Damas looking just like soulblighter was
: also a wee bit cheesy. He was supposed to be
: Connaught's greatest general, so why does he hang out
: by himself, wear no armor, and carry no weapons?
First, it's Connacht, not Connaught. Connaught is a city in Ireland or some such.
Second, there is a picture of Connacht, Damas, and a third general (who I should probably incorporate into UMS Deluxe) in Tales From MythTFL, and yes, Connacht and Damas do look practically identical as Balor and Soulblighter (notable differences being Damas has a face, and Connacht's not nearly as ugly). I wanted to give Damas his glaive since that Tales From MythTFL picture has it, but they insisted he be unarmed.
: While making new collections for _everything_ might be
: pretty damn tedious, remember that Myth is not a
: static universe. For all we know, back then humans
: used only axes and spears, not having discovered how
: to best forge plate mail or even swords. It's not like
: technology has stagnated for a millenia...
They had Heron Guards, Bowmen, and Berserks - we've seen their ghosts in Myth II. Those are the main Light units used in UMS.
: One other problem is the presence of ghols that far
: north, they supposedly weren't brought together under
: a common banner until Black Dog the Ghol king, and
: later Balor. Why would they have been co-opted by the
: psycotic Myrks into joining them? If there _were_
: ghols that far north (which I've already pointed out
: is doubtful), they would probably be fleeing from or
: fighting the Myrkridia, not helping them, remember,
: Ghols aren't inately evil (form GURPS, so this ain't
: gospel, however, you did use a lot of other GURPS
: stuff) and don't just flock to the nearest evil
: scourge and join it. They only helped Balor and
: Soulblighter to have aid destroying Dwarves (an enemy
: of my enemy is my friend, and all that), and the
: Myrkidia weren't attacking the Dwarves, but instead
: the Cath Bruig, with who the Ghols have no quarrell...
GURPS says the Ghols range all over the lands of Myth, though their homes are in the southeast. And we know the Trow had enslaved them at one point, so why not Moagim and his Myrkridia?
: I do like the different heron and warlock types though
: (although I can't imagine why 1. The myrks don't
: attack the warlocks, or 2. why the warlocks attack
: you).
The Myrks should attack the Warlocks sometimes, you're just their prime target. If they're not attacking them, then that's a scripting bug we didn't catch, and I'm sorry. And the Warlocks attack you because they're an autonomous group functioning within Muirthemne and don't like having their privacy violated. They tolerate Calid Rhi, however, because he's the emperor and not only has legal rights to do whatever he damn well pleases but could kick their collective asses if he wanted. (If you hadn't noticed already, you can recruit Warlocks with Calid).
