Another question - why not just move the ship away after
the troops have disembarked?

Or better still - why not offload the troops downstream
a bit out of range of the guns?

And if neither of these were possible, why doesn't Alric
get off the ship anyway? It can't go further upstream,
as there's a waterfall. On other occasions he has
no problems standing with his troops in the field, so
why not now?
