An interesting theory to be sure, but how do we know the cultists were dwarves? The only referance to dwarves in Muirthenme were as the masons who built the city, not as the cults that terrorized it. I imagine that they did _something_ good for the city because Connaught was loathe to exterminate them and only began to do so when thier abductions got truly out of hand. I've always imagined them to be a group of bored nobles perhaps, looking for something new and finding this. Sorta like how there's all those urban legends about bored yuppies joining demonic cults and worshipping satan, etc... :P or not.... Another theory might be that this whole "spider" thing reminds me a lot of R.A. Salvatore's "Dark Elf" series and if any of you are roleplayers, the Drow in Dungeons and Dragons....
