For one, that would make no sense since they are 800 years apart and 800 years before current events was back in the Wolf Age, Connacht's "Age of Light" - NOT in the dark Wind Age.
Speaking with Ares about this on CGHL, I've got it all cleared up. River of Life takes place at the start of the Wind Age, over 2000 years ago. River of Gold takes place near the end of the Wind Age, 800 years later (about 1200 years ago). The two journeymen there have been "personally disgraced" - the rest of the Heron Guard are still wearing their armor.
