In Response To: Re: Dark Night of the Soulblighter (Forrest)

: Between TFL and M2, he studied up and became a powerful
: mage, but still sticks to his mad melee skillz in
: combat. He's immune to the healing effects of mandrake
: roots, his heart is hidden away in his temple so he
: can never die even if his body is completely
: destroyed, and he can blow up the world if you give
: him enough time and space.

So he didn't die in Tharsis? He sure didn't seem too
happy about the lava experience.

: You know, I wonder why he didn't just do that in the
: first place, before attracting all that attention with
: Myrkridia and Shiver and all...

If he didn't die, it must have been really, really close to
being killed. Nothing Soulblighter did in TFL or II
indicated a suicidal bent, until he was really desperate
at the end. Indeed, as Damas he became obsessed with
prolonging his life, to the point where he performed all
those rituals on himself and countless others. In TFL he
stands back & avoids getting involved, and only really
emerges when Balor's heads up for grabs.

I think whatever he wanted to do to the world, he wanted to
live through it, physically intact if possible.

Plus, he liked to torture & torment, so Shiver & the krids
are ideal vehicles for this.
