Alric was the great hero with the nine in the great war in MYTH TFL.Also he's the hero in MYTH 2,but cause the cicle has broken and light side win he is not going to be the Leveler.And I think that he never will.
The Leveler will be another creature!
As for the battles that he fought (and as you say,he starded doing strange things)know that in a bloody war like this was,sacrifacies were neccesery and if he wasen't King Alric,there weren't any chance not only the light side win but the light side would never rose again!
