: perhaps the real ibis crown DID have said amazing powers,
: and the little excursion into the crypts only managed
: to recover one of the copys. if alric had said
: "well we found a fake crown with no power, but we
: can still beat that mean ole soulblighter!" i
: dont think the legion would be very excited. i think
: alric knew at once that the crown was just one of the
: fakes, but he kept it to himself to keep the troops
: moral up.
: that would mean the real ibis crown would still be hidden
: somewhere under muirthemne... sounds like a good idea
: for a solo map sometime eh?

Interesting theory, but I cannot help but to think that the Heron guards would know the difference. Wouldn't it have been a Heron who actually put the crown on Alric's head? Even if not, a Journeyman was there when the crown was recovered. And since the Herons were the Emperors personal guard, they would have spent some time around the real thing.
And if for some reason it wasn't the real thing, who's to say that the real one is under Muirthemne? Certainly when the city was being sacked, a few folks got away. It's a huge city! There may have been someone in the Emperors court who would have known the importance of it and somehow got out of the city with it. Who knows, it could be in the barn of some farmer in Crow's Bridge or even locked away in some vault in the Great Library.
